The faculty of medicine was established in 1990/1991 and was firstly as one Garyounis university faculties and then it has been as a part of Altahadi university in 1993. the faculty is located in a separate building outside the main university campus and it is close to Iben-sina teaching hospital. The faculty of medicine offers a study for the MBBCh qualification and the first undergraduate group was in 1996/1997. there are many qualified teaching staff from Altahadi university and from other universities in Egypt are taking part in the teaching and final examinations at the faculty. The faculty follows the medical continued teaching program through conducting lectures and workshop groups that held at the Iben-sina teaching hospital weekly. The faculty has joined the clinical programme of specialty in different branches in order to give a chance for the junior doctors to achieve their high degrees in clinical branches.
In terms of a research programs, the faculty has awarded an MSc degree in parasitology to two of its postgraduates, MSc degree in anatomy for one postgraduate, and one postgraduate student awarded an MSc in histology. In addition, there are also other postgraduate students who are in process of completing their research study
